Foam @ Finborough Theatre

You forget I knew you were a queer long before I knew you were a fascist. The world premiere. 1973, a public lavatory. Nicky shaves his head, watched by an older man. Publicly, Nicky is a skinhead. And a Neo-Nazi. But right now, in this place, that doesnt matter. Hes not the first man Nicky meets in a public toilet, and he wont be the lastSpanning twenty years and inspired by a true story, Foam examines the nature of identity and the consequences of right-wing extremist ideology against the backdrop of Londons skinhead and gay scenes of the 1970s and 1980s. With right-wing extremism again on the rise, Foam confronts the flashpoint where the terrifyingly personal and the violently political collide............. Post Show Discussion 27 March. On Wednesday 27 March, cultural critic Barry Pierce will be chairing a post-show discussion with Foam playwright Harry McDonald and director Matthew Iliffe. Additional guests to be announced. All events are free to ticket holders for that evenings performance. Barry Pierce is a cultural critic whose work regularly appears in i-D, Dazed, British GQ and the Big Issue. The discussion will all be Twitter friendly with live tweets from @FinboroughForum. Using the hashtag #finfor, the speakers will also answer questions posed on Twitter so everyone can be included, no matter where they are in the world. The second play by new British playwright Harry McDonald, Foam is directed by Matthew Iliffe who returns to the Finborough Theatre where he most recently directed the multi-award-winning world premiere of Sophie Swithinbanks Bacon for which he was named Best Director of a Play at the OffWestEnd Awards.
