Wild Wing Doves (Sign Your Name) @ Above The Stag

Wild Wing Doves (Sign Your Name) - by Ashley Byam - Kairo is Aidyn's first boyfriend, and he's perfect in every way. Aidyn couldn't be happier. But life isnt like Aidyns favourite rom-coms and novels. One night will change all that and show him that first love isn't always what we want it to be. In his new play 'Wild Wing Doves', Ashley Byam explores the sacrifices we make for what we think should be the perfect relationship. What do Ru Pauls Drag Race, conversion therapy, social media shaming, transmasc experiences and Hedwig and the Angry Inch all have in common? Theyre all hotly-discussed topics being explored in Contact, a season of new writing at the UKs LGBT+ theatre. Curated by Matthew Baldwin and guided by acclaimed playwright and dramaturg Bill Rosenfield, a collective of theatre-makers have been challenged with creating six shows in under two weeks and staging them before a ticket-buying audience. Time pressure and new friendships will create unexpected and exciting results with the possibility of creating work that will later develop into much bigger pieces of theatre. Exploring stories of division and unity, Contact features work by some of the capitals brightest LGBT+ writers and performers including various Above The Stag Theatre alumni. Drag king Len Blanco, playwright Tom Ratcliffe (Velvet - 2019), Ashley Byam (Four Play - 2019), Harry Potter And The Cursed Child star James Phoon (Southern Baptist Sissies - 2017) are among those presenting work. Each performance is followed by an informal Q&A session with the creative team. Tickets 15
