Tony and Emmy award winner Stockard Channing, Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Olivier Award winner Desmond Barrit, Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey) and Joseph Millson (The Last Kingdom) in a new production of Alexi Kaye Campbells darkly funny and haunting play about family and its secrets, directed by Jamie Lloyd. Stockard Channing's credits include starring roles in The West Wing, The Good Wife, her Oscar and Golden Globe nominated role in Six Degrees of Separation, and the iconic role of Rizzo in the film Grease. Alexi Kaye Campbells other works include The Pride, Sunset at The Villa Thalia at the National Theatre and The Faith Machine at the Royal Court Theatre. Jamie Lloyd returns to Trafalgar Studios after smash hits including The Ruling Class and Macbeth starring James McAvoy and Richard III with Martin Freeman. Kristin Miller is a firebrand matriarch and eminent art historian. A birthday gathering should be a cause for celebration but the cracks in her family relationships are brought to the surface by the recent publication of her memoir. As the evening progresses questions are asked about the sacrifices she has made and about the price paid by those she loves. Apologia is a witty, topical and passionate play about generations, secrets, and warring perspectives. Latecomers may be admitted at a suitable break, but late admission cannot be guaranteed until the interval. ★★★★ Times ★★★★ Daily Telegraph ★★★★ Stockard Channing is superb Evening Standard ★★★★ Channing triumphs.
