Join us for a screening of Aro Karols documentary 'Battle of Soho' which charts the effects of gentrification on the area, and the individuals, celebrities and organisations who have sprung up to combat this onslaught. Inspired by the closure of iconic club Madame Jojo's in November 2014, the 'Battle of Soho' provides an account of the developmental plans in place to gentrify Soho. The changes to Soho affect the LGBT community, its Drag Queen sub-culture and the cabaret atmosphere of the neighborhood. This film is part of the ICA Cinematheque: Changing London, a season of screenings that explores the changing landscape of London, looking beyond the headlines to offer intimate and sharply-observed portraits of a city in flux.
