The legendary singer-songwriter has inarguably been one of the greatest musical figureheads on the world stage for decades, but he has never been one to rest on his laurels. That constant, driving desire to create his next great piece of work now leads him to another landmark, in the form of Eltons new album for 2016, Wonderful Crazy Night, and its flagship single Looking Up. The 33rd studio release of his storied career, it follows 2013s widely-praised The Diving Board, a top five album on both sides of the Atlantic that was warmly received around the world as Elton himself witnessed first hand, with the similarly tireless devotion to live performance that has seen him play more than 4,000 concerts in over 80 countries. Wonderful Crazy Night is co-produced by Elton and his frequent collaborator of recent years, the revered T-Bone Burnett, with whom he crafted The Diving Board and the historic 2010 alliance with the artists early inspiration Leon Russell, The Union. The new album, recorded and mixed at the Village in Los Angeles, witnesses the continuation of one of the most remarkable songwriting partnerships in pop music history, with ten new songs co-written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The record also features Eltons longtime core band members, including drummer Nigel Olsson, from his original three-piece group, and guitarist Davey Johnstone, with whom he first worked in 1971. Theyre joined on the record by bassist Matthew Bissonette, keyboard player Kim Bullard and percussionist John Mahon. Five tracks feature appearances by another time-honoured associate, percussionist Ray Cooper.
