Gays’ The Word Book Launch: Pharmakeia by Timothy Graves

The story is set in London in 1997 and centres around Mahvand Amirzadeh, a young gay comics artist of Iranian descent. Mahvand first meets Belial (aka Jean-Baptiste), a dealer and collector of conceptual art, at a literary soiree in the East End. A relationship develops between the pair, they engage in sex magick practices and a Faustian-like pact is forged. Mahvand reinvents himself as a conceptual artist but how far will he go in his quest to become a celebrity on Londons conceptual art scene? A satire on the art scene, the darker reaches of dating and a compelling love story. Devilishly good fun. Julia Bell, author of The Dark Light. A Free Event:- just RSVP here on Facebook so we have a sense of numbers. A standing launch party event! Pharmakeia is the second novel by Timothy Graves. His first novel, Homo Jihad was shortlisted for the Polari First Book Prize in 2010 and favourably reviewed in a number of publications including Time Out, Attitude and Gay Times. Timothy has a Masters Degree in Creative Writing and has also published a short story, Bright Fire of Morning, in The Mechanics Institute Review 8. Timothy currently lives in London and has a background in teaching.
