Leicester Pride 2015

he Leicester Pride committee announced that Sam Bailey, winner of the tenth series of X Factor, will headline the main stage at the event on Saturday 5th September at Victoria Park. The announcement signifies a huge milestone for the annual LGBT festival, as year-on-year growth is now paving the way for world-class performers. With turns outs exceeding 10,000 in recent years the event has grown to become one of the largest cultural events in the city and nationally recognised amongst UK Pride festivals. As a community sponsored event, funding is still the biggest challenge we face every year in putting the event on, said Leicester Pride Chairman Martyn Parker. But the continued support from local and national businesses, as well as Leicester City Council are helping us to reach new heights with the event this year. Myself and the whole team are very excited to be welcoming Sam Bailey onto the main stage in her home town for 2015. The committee is expected to announce more main stage acts in the coming weeks with a full event guide - including line-up - being available from July in LGBT venues and businesses across the city. Since 2009 a group of volunteers have worked year-round to deliver the annual Leicester Pride festival in Leicester. The event has grown significantly, but still remains free to attend and focused on celebrating the rich diversity in our city.
