Grayson Perry in Conversation with Miranda Sawyer

Grayson Perry is a Turner Prize-winning artist who describes himself as an Essex transvestite potter and whose alter-egos include his childhood teddy bear Alan Measles and the frock-wearing Claire. Perrys celebrated Reith Lectures for BBC Radio 4 last year helped redefine the appreciation and understanding of contemporary art, and his documentary series for Channel 4 - All in the Best Possible Taste and the forthcoming Who Are You? have cemented his reputation as one of our sharpest and wittiest social critics. For his guest edit of the New Statesman, due out on Thursday 9 October, Perry will be joined by friends and supporters, as well as regular NS contributors, for a special issue examining the phenomenon of THE GREAT WHITE MALE: the white, middle-class, middle-aged, heterosexual man who dominates western society. Contributors will include Martin Amis, Stephen Fry, Margaret Atwood, Mary Beard, Roxane Gay, Martin Parr, Robert Webb, Rowan Williams, Kate Fox, Dylan Jones and A A Gill. To mark this special issue of the NS, on Monday 13 October Grayson Perry will join the cultural critic and former Turner Prize judge Miranda Sawyer for a conversation covering identity, art, privilege and the great white male.
