Platform 6 showcases lesbian, gay and bisexual art in debut exhibition adidas, Sir Elton John and Naomi Campbell support auction in aid of Stonewall Platform 6, the non-profit arts organisation, has joined forces with global sportswear brand adidas for a special auction in aid of Stonewalls campaign to tackle homophobia. 20 pairs of limited edition adidas x Platform 6 Stan Smith trainers have been transformed in to one-off pieces of art by those exhibiting in this years show and individuals such as Sir Elton John, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue. The auction will take place alongside an exciting showcase of emerging and established gay artists which will open its doors on 7 September. The collective exhibition will showcase lesbian, gay and bisexual artwork and feature artists such as Boy George, Carl Hopgood, DnA Factory, James Tailor and Layla Lyons. Stonewall Director of Fundraising Catherine Bosworth said: Were so delighted that Platform 6 has chosen to support Stonewalls work. Were also honoured that such an iconic brand as adidas and so many artists and celebrities have contributed to the project so well be able to raise vital funds for Stonewalls work to tackle homophobic bullying. Exhibition curator and Platform 6 founder James Tailor said: There is so much more to LGB artists than simply their sexuality, however that is what many exhibitions seem to focus on, and a lot of the work itself is highly sexualised and falls into a now well-known stereotype. Were delighted to be raising money for Stonewall whilst showcasing the diversity and talent of these artists. Supermodel Naomi Campbell added: Its great to be able to help such important and influential charities such as Stonewall and Platform 6. Supporting new talent and the gay community are two causes very close to me and so I wish this event every success. I'm also thrilled to put my name to such unique trainers - Ave adidas - cool, original and functional all at the same time! The Platform 6 exhibition will open its doors at 10am on Saturday 7 September and will run until 14 September at the Bargehouse at the Oxo Tower Wharf, SE1 9HP. Entrance is free. Bidding on the one of a kind customised adidas trainers is open online now and will run until 14 September: www.p6auction.com All profits will be donated to Stonewall.
